St Brigid's Cross
St Brigid’s Day Celebration
Today we celebrated St Brigid’s Day in Legamaddy, marking the beginning of spring and honouring one of Ireland’s most beloved saints. The children took part in the beautiful tradition of making St Brigid’s crosses, using rushes and working together to create something meaningful and symbolic.
It was wonderful to watch the enthusiasm. Our older pupils showed great kindness and patience as they helped each other with their crosses, guiding small hands and encouraging them along the way. The pupils loved this experience and took great pride in their finished crosses. It was a lovely example of teamwork, friendship, and community spirit in our school.
St Brigid’s Day always reminds us of hope, new beginnings, and caring for one another — values we strive to live out every day in Legamaddy.
St Brigid’s Day Prayer
Saint Brigid,
You were full of love and kindness.
Help us to care for one another,
to share what we have,
and to bring light and hope wherever we go.
Bless our school, our families, and our friends today.
St Brigid, pray for us. Amen.
