Primary 2

Welcome to Primary 2!

A warm welcome to our Primary 2 class — and what a wonderful group of curious and enthusiastic learners we have this year!

I’m Miss Annett, and I’m thrilled to be guiding the children through an exciting and enriching year of learning. This term, we’ll be exploring a range of engaging topics including Autumn, The Solar System, People Who Help Us, Pirates, and Africa. Each theme offers fantastic opportunities for cross-curricular learning, creativity, and discovery.

Through these topics, children will develop key skills across the curriculum which includes:

Language and Literacy: Pupils will enhance their reading, writing, talking and listening skills through storytelling, role play, and topic-based writing activities.

Mathematics and Numeracy: We’ll be focusing on subtraction, telling the time, understanding days of the week and months of the year, and collecting and interpreting data.

The World Around Us: Children will investigate seasonal changes, explore space and planets, learn about different cultures and communities, and understand the roles of people who help us.

Personal Development and Mutual Understanding (PDMU): We’ll encourage empathy, cooperation, and self-awareness through discussions and activities linked to our topics.

The Arts: Pupils will express themselves through painting, music, drama, and model-making, inspired by themes such as autumn leaves, space adventures, pirate tales, and African patterns.

Physical Development and Movement: PE will continue on Tuesdays and Thursdays, with a focus on movement, coordination, and teamwork.

We’re also delighted to welcome parents and carers who have volunteered to speak to the class about their professions — these visits are a valuable way to connect classroom learning with real-world experiences and help children develop their questioning and communication skills.

Please stay connected by checking our Facebook page and visiting this class page regularly to see photos and updates of our fantastic work. We’re looking forward to a joyful and inspiring year ahead!
